Scientific research experiences are beneficial to students allowing them gain laboratory and problem-solving skills, as well foundational skills in a team-based setting. We designed module provide guided experience stimulate curiosity, introduce experimental techniques, with needed for higher levels of inquiry. In this module, learn about RNA interference (RNAi) codon optimization using the organism Caenorhabditis elegans (C. elegans). Students given opportunity perform commonly used method gene downregulation C. where they visualize depletion fluorescence microscopy quantify efficacy quantitative image analysis. The presented here educates on how report their results findings by generating publication quality figures figure legends. activities outlined exemplify ways which can improve critical thinking, data interpretation, technical all future classes, independent inquiry-based projects, careers life sciences beyond.
